On behalf of the Association for California Governmental Human Resources Professionals (“CalGovHR”), it is my distinct privilege and pleasure to invite you to "save the date" for the 2020 CalGovHR Annual Conference and Expo™ in the beautiful Sonoma wine country between March 11 - 13, 2020.


As many of you know, our Annual Conference serves as California's flagship training opportunity, drawing over 350 attendees from federal, state, local governments, as well as from education (K-12 and colleges), special districts, and nonprofit organizations. 2020 Technical Session Tracks


The 2020 CalGovHR Conference and Expo™ features five extraordinary programs over the course of three days, all for one incredible “all inclusive” price, including: 1) technical training and “hands on” experience-based workshops; 2) legal updates; 3) concurrent sessions on the topics of talent acquisition, benefits & wellness, labor relations, workers’ compensation, investigations, succession planning, and social media; 4) networking breakfasts, lunches and social/buffet dinner with live entertainment; and, 5) career coaching with executive recruiters. The first day of our 2020 Conference will feature the following full-day technical workshops and tracks (all included in the registration price):


Diversity & Inclusion

Learn effective and practical skills on building a better workforce for tomorrow, and how to promote diversity and inclusion as part of your agency's HR practices. The D&I track will offer a blend of industry thought leaders, HR practitioners, and attorneys to offer strategies and ways to implement D&I at work.


HR Analytics Laboratory

Ever wonder how you can utilize HR analytics to provide key insights into your organization? The HR Analytics track will provide you with a foundation of the principles of HR analytics, with a "hands-on" laboratory experience to create a HR dashboard (using Excel) that you can take back for immediate implementation at work.


Advanced Labor Relations

The foundation of labor relations remain critical for the continued success for every organization. Learn from our panel of renowned labor relations professionals and attorneys who will share their wisdom and guidance on the latest trends in California, and ways to foster trust and collaboration at work.

The 2020 CalGovHR Conference & Expo will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Sonoma Wine Country. Centrally located in Sonoma Valley, one of the most beautiful regions of California, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Sonoma Wine Country is nestled within two 18-hole championship golf courses, and the hotel features a beautiful atmosphere with roses, vines, and a Chef’s herb garden, echoing its Sonoma Wine Country surroundings. The 2020 Conference hotel group rate is only $149/night, which reflects a significant savings for our conference attendees so you can enjoy your time in the beautiful wine country! In addition, the Oxford Suites Sonoma County will serve as our overflow hotel once the DoubleTree is sold out.


Explore Sonoma Wine Country


Located about an hour north of San Francisco, the Sonoma Valley is best known for its wine. The Valley offers a varied landscape and you're transformed into one of the most beautiful wine-making regions in the world. Follow 17 miles of country roads that connect the sleepy hamlet of Kenwood to the Carneros appellation and you'll find more than 40 boutique wineries, most small and family owned. Abundant hiking trails offer views of the town of Sonoma as well as through two amazing local state parks. Popular excursions are biking to local vineyards, strolling to the town square to enjoy over 20 local tasting rooms, followed by a picnic in the park. In addition, the craggy Pacific coastline and the majestic redwoods of Armstrong Redwoods State Park are only a scenic hour and a half long drive. Sonoma offers a relaxed and remote getaway destination and is your spot of heaven on earth. With San Francisco and Napa Valley less than an hour away, the possibilities are endless! In addition, the DoubleTree Sonoma Wine Country features an airport shuttle service from San Francisco (SFO) and Oakland (OAK) International Airports, making it one of the most convenient destinations in California.
